DDS class 10.23.08
I think that class was good this week. It helped me focus on what the site should really be about. Now we are going to start designing the site which is the most exciting part. I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks.
another pass at the concept
DDS class 10.16.08
In class we went over our concept design. I think after discussing the concept in class I have a better understanding of where my concept is going. Now I need to redo my design for digital media. We also went over site maps and wireframes. This step seems very important in getting to the final site.
Concept design
Mood board revised
DDS class 10.9.08
In class last week we went over our mood boards and experience maps again. We started talking about the design of our site and the feeling we want the site to exude. I'm excited about this part but also a little bit confused because of the back and forth over the event. I think that having a chance to expand the event will change my concept a little bit, but I think that it will also give me more to talk about.
Muir Woods Midnight Walking Tour
Tuesday night I went to Muir woods for their walking tour. I asked the tour leader Ranger Tim what he knew about the winter solstice event, he seemed a little tight lipped. When I told him about the project he seemed even more hesitant. He told me that the event is already very large and they aren't planning on doing very much advertising for the event. I'm going to try to focus my site into getting people to start their own solstice events at local parks and forests.
Although I didn't get as much info about my specific event I did learn a lot about the Muir woods. The walk was very informational and it was really cool to be in the woods at night. At the end of the tour they have you walk by yourself down the trail (flashlight optional) and it is so peaceful and quiet with the moon and stars shining above. The rangers said there were "ghosts" in the forest. I saw one, but I won't spoil the surprise if anyone else feels like going. Being in the dark surrounded by nature was definitely magical and I think that spreading this idea to other parks would be a cool idea.

Mood Board
DDS class 10.2.08
In class we went over the persona's we created to help define the audience for our event. I think this step really helped me figure out who I'm supposed to gear this mini site towards. We also went over experience maps and created our own to show how the site is going to be focused. I was a little worried about what the people from the park had told us about the event being too crowded. But after discussing it in class I think that trying to get people to create their own events at local parks is going to be fun.
